Wes Ratliff has been the Worship Pastor/Worship Leader of Wright Baptist Church since 1997. This ministry exists to lead people to love the Lord with all their heart, mind, and strength, and to express that love in personal and corporate worship. He oversees the planning, preparation and coordination of all the worship events at the church. The worship at Wright Baptist Church is of a contemporary format including fresh applications of traditional hymns. The weekly Sunday services are led by Wes along with a Praise Band, Vocal Team, and Choir.
Prior to coming to Wright Baptist, Wes served churches in south Florida and Georgia. He began his ministry experience while in college and seminary and began full-time ministry in 1984 following his graduation from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas with a Master of Church Music. Prior to seminary, Wes received a Bachelor of Music Education from Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida. During his undergraduate and graduate studies, Wes also became an accomplished Trombonist and still today enjoys opportunities in the community, schools, and other churches to utilize those instrumental skills. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Bradenton, Florida.
Wes and his wife, Donna, of 30+ years have a son and a daughter, Clay and Cara, a daughter-in-law, Andi, and two grandsons, Branden and Evan. He enjoys scuba diving, spearfishing, camping, boating, some fishing, disc golf, a little golf, anything Florida State, and good movies! He has been deeply influenced by Mark 12:30, John 4:23-24, Ephesians 5:19, and Psalm 26:8-12, and believes that God is more concerned with the song and attitude of our hearts and minds than with the sound and singing of our voices. The theme of the Worship & Music Ministry is "More Than a Song." We are to bring Him more than a song, we are to bring Him a Heart of Worship!
